A Regency Picnic

Happily, not all the costume events were canceled this year. Caitlin, The Victorian Archivist, hosted a socially-distanced regency picnic this Labor Day weekend at Saratoga Spa State Park through the Empire State Costumers group on Facebook. In all, six of us attended so it was quite perfect. It was so lovely to meet new people and get out of doors. I loved seeing the outfits everyone had made and chatting about sewing.

It also pushed me to complete two new items for my regency wardrobe, a fichu and a bonnet (posts to come with details on those!) There were also going to be new boots, but they have yet to ship, despite the fact that I ordered them over three weeks ago. Regardless of my decreased satisfaction with my S&S gown now that I’ve been able to study more extant regency gowns, I feel I’ve significantly upgraded my outfit with these accessories.
